LOS ANGELES - UC Riverside erased an 18-point halftime deficit on Thursday night at Gersten Pavilion and plowed through the second half en route to an 81-79 win over LMU.
The win comes one day shy of a year removed from JP Moorman II's 75-foot buzzer beater at Arizona State last season, thus cementing another historic moment in program history 364 days apart. UCR led for all of 2:31 on Thursday evening in Westchester.
Zyon Pullin notched 23 points on the night on 8-of-15 shooting while Kyle Owens, Lachlan Olbrich and Flynn Cameron joined Pullin in double figures scoring. Pullin's final bucket of the night came with 1.6 on the clock, a stepback jumper in front of his own bench that gave UCR its first win of the season.
UCR went on a 14-3 run to start the second half, forcing LMU to call time as the Highlander brought the deficit down to seven at the first media timeout out of halftime. Vladimer Salaridze logged just six points on the evening, but made his last bucket count with a triple at the 4:15 mark of the second half that gave UC Riverside its first lead of the night.
Jamal Hartwell II was perfect from the floor on the night for nine points, racking up seven of them in the second half. The George Mason transfer knocked down a pair of free throws with five minutes left to put UCR within two points.
Wil Tattersall grabbed five of his seven rebounds in the second half while Owens grabbed all three of his.
UC Riverside is headed for its final game of the early season road trip, battling Creighton on Thursday, November 17.
