RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Flynn Cameron was named Big West Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Cameron, who represented New Zealand at this past summer's FIBA Asia Cup after a Big West All-Academic performance last season, earned his first weekly honor in his third season with the Highlanders' program.
Cameron had a stellar week that led the Highlanders to an equally stellar three-game sweep of the Vegas 4 at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson. The Kiwi averaged 20.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals in wins over Weber State, Wright State and Abilene Christian last week, all three of whom reached the 20-win plateau last season.
The Gold Coast native notched two career highs in points last week and capped his Player of the Week performance with 26 against Abilene Christian, where he became the first Highlander since Dragan Elkaz in 2019 to record seven made threes in a contest.
Cameron's 51.3 field goal clip and 53.8 three-point clip for the week ultimately helped UCR win its fourth straight and improve to 5-2.
UC Riverside will play one more contest before finals week, traveling across town for the annual Crosstown Showdown at California Baptist on Wednesday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Tickets are currently available for purchase at CBULancers.com.
