RIVERSIDE, Calif. -
UC Riverside returned to the win column on Thursday night with a 79-69 win over CSU Bakersfield at the SRC Arena.

Dominick Pickett and Wil Tattersall combined for 41 points on 13-of-19 shooting and 9 of 11 from downtown in the win. Pickett came one point shy of tying his career high of 22.

"Dom and Wil have been great shooters for UC Riverside in the past, and I believe they will get going down the stretch," head coach Mike Magpayo said. "A lot of those shots came from great facilitating by Callum and Zyon."

McRae and Pullin combined for 12 of the Highlanders' 18 assists that led to 27 made field goals. UCR shot 52.9 percent from the floor on Thursday, the Highlanders' best shooting night of the season.

Back-to-back-to-back threes from Dominick Pickett and Wil Tattersall sparked a 14-0 run for UCR after going down 6-0 to the Runners to start Thursday's contest. After missing their first five shots of the game, the Highlanders went 5 of six from the floor to storm out to the lead, eventually doubling up Bakersfield at 16-8.

Pickett started his night going 3 of 4 from the field with a pair of threes, reaching a game-high 12 points at halftime. Tattersall went 3 for 3 from deep in the first half, marking the fourth game in his last five with a connection from downtown.

The duo combined for 23 points on 7-of-8 shooting at the half, including a perfect 6 of 6 on three-pointers.

Both teams shot well north of 50 percent in the second half leading up to the under-16 media break, with UCR steadying ahead with a 49-39 advantage. Five Highlanders had multiple rebounds at that point, including a team-high five from Tattersall.

Callum McRae's layup midway through the second half gave him his fourth straight 10-point game and snapped a two minute scoreless stretch for UCR, who kept the lead at double digits.

CSU Bakersfield used late-game urgency to make things interesting, but UC Riverside ended the night going 6 of 7 from the floor to secure the win.

UC Riverside continues its four-game homestand on Saturday, February 19 against Cal Poly at 5:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available at gohighlanders.com. Tickets can be purchased at highlanderstickets.universitytickets.com, and students are free with a valid UCR ID.Â
