Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of California, Riverside Highlanders struggled to produce against the UNLV Rebels during their Tuesday, April 5 non-conference road bout. The Highlanders had hosted the Rebels earlier in the season on March 22, losing 6-2.
The Rebels came out aggressive, knocking a first-inning grand slam out of the park to put the Highlanders down four runs early in the game. They'd put another run on the board in the second inning before Highlander offense answered back.
In the third inning,
Anthony Mata hit an RBI single to left field to send
Jacob Badawi home for UCR's lone run.
Another four-run inning in the fourth set the Highlanders back further, before UNLV ran away with it in the fifth and sixth innings, for the final score of 12-1 in favor of the Rebels.
The Highlanders remain on the road and return to Big West play in Hawai'i on Friday, April 8 at 8:35 PT.
