Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside entertained a packed SRC Arena of more than 2,000 fans to a top-billing Big West matchup on Thursday, as the Highlanders dropped a physical and high-spirited 75-65 decision to UC Irvine.
UC Irvine got off to a hot start, but UCR came roaring back with a 14-2 run after Flynn Cameron made three consecutive triples for the Highlanders' first lead of the night. Cameron accounted for four of UCR's six treys in the first half, ending with a game-high 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting with five of those makes coming from the perimeter.
Cameron's three-point shooting continued to catapult him up the record books, now entering fourth on UCR's Division I career list with his 168th three-pointer as a Highlander.
UCR out-rebounded the Anteaters in the first half 23-14, but punished UCI on the offensive boards with a 10-1 advantage up to halftime that led to nine second-chance points, ultimately leaving UC Riverside with just a six-point deficit at the break.
Zyon Pullin was three assists away from a double double, going for 14 points, seven assists and two steals.
UC Riverside went on a 9-0 run in the second half to bring the Highlanders to within four. Cameron came down the floor with an emphatic one-handed slam before a layup from the Gold Coast native forced UCI to call for time.
UCR will close out the regular season on Saturday, March 4 with a 7:00 p.m. at Cal Poly on ESPN+.
