DAVIS, Calif. - UC Riverside fell 2-0 in Friday's series opener to UC Davis at La Rue Field. 

Nadia Witt extended her on-base streak to 27 games with a single in the fourth and was later in the inning caught stealing second. Witt also worked a walk in the seventh as UCR attempted to erase a 2-0 deficit down to their last two outs. 

Leah Brito drew a one-out walk in the fifth, but Samiya Jones hit into a double play on the next at-bat. 

Maddie Heinlin had a strong start out of the gate, retiring her first six batters until the Aggies put the deciding runs on the board in the third. 

UC Riverside will close out the series with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11:00 a.m. on ESPN+.
