RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The UC Riverside Highlanders defeated Hawai'i for the first time in program history, edging out the Rainbow Wahine in a thrilling five-set match, 3-2.

- In a gritty first set, the Highlanders rallied from a four-point deficit to seize an 18-17 lead. The score tied nine times before UC Riverside clinched the set, 29-27.
- Hawai'i responded with a second-set win, but UC Riverside regained momentum in the third, closing with a three-point run to secure a 25-22 victory.
- The fourth set extended to extra points as Hawai'i came out on top, 27-25, forcing a decisive fifth set.
- UC Riverside emerged victorious in the final set, 15-13, sealing their historic win.
- Trinity Sheridan led UC Riverside's offense with a team-high 19 kills, adding six digs and two blocks.
- Kailyn Jager joined Sheridan in double digits with 12 kills and a standout defensive performance, notching 23 digs.
- Jessica Dean anchored the defense with a match-high 27 digs and contributed eight assists.
- This was the first win for the Highlanders against Hawai'i since they first faced the Rainbow Wahine in 1974.
- Hawai'i currently holds second place in the Big West conference standings.
- Beatriz Silva recorded a career-high 36 assists and career-high 15 digs, while securing three service aces.
