UC Riverside Falls in Game Two to CSUN

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside fell, 15-13, to CSUN in game two of a three game series on Saturday evening at the Riverside Sports Complex.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • UCR found themselves up against a wall early with a pair of CSUN runs in the first but responded accordingly in the bottom half of the inning.  
  • The Highlanders busted the game open with six runs in the first, three of which came before Rudy Rodriguez IV's flyout to left for the first out of the frame. Jayden Sanchez quickly resumed the scoring for UC Riverside with a three-run home run to left center.  
  • UC Riverside padded its lead with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth.  
  • Zachary Chamizo roped a 1-2 pitch into right center for a double in the sixth and advanced to third on a single from Cole Koniarsky. Bubba Rocha then delivered with a two-out single to tie the ballgame at 11 as Koniarsky wheeled around from first.  
  • UCR bolted ahead in the eighth on a double from Dominic Martinez for a 12-11 lead. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

  • Sanchez and Rocha each recorded four RBIs on the night, making it the second game this season in which multiple Highlanders have recorded four RBIs in a game. Both games have come at the Riverside Sports Complex.  
  • Martinez went 3 for 5 with three runs and two RBIs.  
  • Tyler Gebb recorded five strikeouts in his second start of the year, going 4.1 innings in game two.
