LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC Riverside completed 18 holes in Sunday's first round of the UC San Diego Intercollegiate at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UC Riverside shot 315 as a team to open the UC San Diego Intercollegiate.  
• Maddox Yi bogeyed his first hole before going 1-under on his next eight and is UCR's leader in the clubhouse after posting a 77 (+5).  
• Yi is tied for 47th entering Monday's second round to lead the Highlanders.  
• Mark Gao enjoyed a strong start and finished his first round with a birdie on his second and last holes of the day.  
• Chanhee Ryu parred his first eight holes on Sunday and tied Josh Hu with a 79 (+7).  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• UC Riverside ranks fifth in the 17-team field with a 4.70 stroke average on par 5s.
