Men’s Golf Finishes Play at Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

Grewal captures top 30 finish in Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UC Riverside concluded play at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Monday at Eisenhower Golf Course.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • UCR shot its lowest round of the tournament on Monday at 293 to bump up a spot on the final leaderboard.  
  • UC Riverside made the turn on a positive note with three of five Highlanders in the lineup carding a birdie on 18. Mark Gao and Nik Kittilson birdied two of their final three holes on the back nine.  
  • Gao bogeyed 10 to start the day but went par, par, birdie, par for his next four holes.  

NOTABLES 

  • Freshman and Riverside native Liam Hartling posted a clean front nine and shot 1-under over his final 14 holes to close out his first collegiate tournament.  
  • Meanwhile, fellow freshman Hartej Grewal shot a 35 (-1) on the front nine to wrap up his first event as a Highlander with a top 30 finish to lead UCR. 
  • Grewal carded his second straight 71 (-1) in Colorado while Gao matched his tournament low with a second consecutive 74 (+2).  
  • Hartling shot a career-low 73 (+1) on day three as one of three Highlanders to move up the leaderboard after round three.
