RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Riverside Highlanders softball team is ready to make its mark this season, with an exciting 2025 schedule packed with high-profile matchups and thrilling opportunities. The season features a blend of home games, road contests, and tournaments against some of the best teams in the nation.

The Highlanders kick off their season on February 7th with back-to-back games against Indianapolis and Utah Tech. The following day, they host Army West Point for their first home series of the season. Highlights of the early schedule include matchups against powerhouse programs such as UCLA (Feb. 9), Stanford (Feb. 14 and 15), and the University of Washington (Feb. 20).

"I am extremely excited to begin competing in 2025" said first year head coach Brittney Matta. "We worked hard to add games of a high caliber. We will take on some teams that have been known for appearing in the Top 25 year after year, prior to our conference starting in March, and it is something that will definitely make us stronger. I am looking forward to seeing our young women on the field."

The team will also compete in tournaments featuring competitive opponents like Rutgers, San Diego State, and BYU throughout February and early March. Conference play begins on March 8th with a three-game away series against UC Santa Barbara, followed by a challenging slate against Big West opponents including Cal State Bakersfield, UC San Diego, CSUN, Hawaii, Cal Poly, Long Beach State, and Cal State Fullerton.

The season wraps up with a three-game series at UC Davis (May 2–3), providing the Highlanders an opportunity to finish strong.
