Delahoussaye racked up a career-high 54 attacks on the night.
A marathon set two, featuring 24 ties and 10 lead changes, advanced to extended play, where Brewer's blocking kept the Highlanders afloat until UC San Diego evened the match.
Ewalefo and Delahoussaye teamed up to give UCR its largest lead of the match at 19-13 in set three. Service errors gifted the Highlanders a 21-15 advantage late in the period, and Makena Tong craftily dumped a set over the net before Delahoussaye capped the set victory with her 10th kill.
UC Riverside put up four blocks and forced seven attack errors in set four. The Highlanders promptly capitalized on the errors to stay in striking distance, but were overpowered in a 25-17 set defeat.
Hooks accompanied two Highlander block assists and Ewalefo swatted kill number 22 as UCR held the upper hand to start set five. UC San Diego battled its way back into the frame, but a Delahoussaye kill briefly pushed momentum back UCR's way at 13-10. Ewalefo ended her career night with kill number 26 for the win.
