RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Highlanders faced a strong defensive effort from California Baptist on Tuesday night, falling 80–57 in the Crosstown Showdown at the CBU Events Center.
Marqui Worthy led the Highlanders with 15 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while BJ Kolly added 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Andrew Henderson finished with nine points and four rebounds, and Osiris Grady matched with nine to go with four boards.
After CBU opened on an early run to build an 18–4 lead, UC Riverside responded with one of its best stretches of the first half. Grady scored twice inside, Denzel Hines added a layup, and a Godfrey three brought the Highlanders within 20–12 at the 13:10 mark, trimming the deficit to eight. CBU countered with another run to extend the lead, taking a 49–31 advantage into halftime.
Worthy and Kolly continued to create offense in the second half, combining for 11 of UCR's 26 points after the break. Kolly scored seven second-half points and added multiple rebounds and defensive stops, and Tyler Jones provided a late three off the bench.
The Highlander travel to San Diego next for a 6 p.m. matchup on Friday, November 21st.
