RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside Men's and Women's Basketball start conference play this week with the second annual Big West Bold Week.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
UC Riverside's Big West schedule tips off at UC Irvine on Thursday, and at Cal Poly on Saturday, kicking off five of the Highlanders' next six contests away from the
SRC Arena. UCR went 2-0 in last year's inaugural Bold Week with wins over CSUN and Cal State Fullerton.Â
Gus Argenal's squad, winners of two of their last three, will look to make it three wins in their last four over UCI and 12 of their last 14 over the Mustangs.Â
The Highlanders have picked up recent wins at San Diego and over Grambling State, featuring Andrew Henderson's 1,000th career point as part of a 32-point outing against the Tigers.Â
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Women's Basketball hosts UC Irvine and Cal Poly on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, for its Bold Week slate. The Highlanders also went 2-0 last year in Bold Week, downing CSUN and Cal State Fullerton in Brad Langston's first two conference games as head coach.
UC Riverside earned its first win of the year on Saturday afternoon with a 64-47 triumph over Cal Lutheran. Hannah Wickstrom led UCR with an efficient 30 points, 14 rebounds, and seven steals on 9-of-13 shooting in 34 minutes.Â
UCR split last year's series with UC Irvine and will look to build on a five-game win streak over Cal Poly.Â
Tickets for both contests are on sale now at GoHighlanders.com/tickets.Â
