UCR Tops UC Merced; Swanson Sets Career High

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Highlanders closed out 2025 with a 93-52 win over UC Merced in the first ever meeting between the two schools. The Bobcats are the newest members of the CCAA Conference (D2), after making the jump from the NAIA level.

Once again, the offense was led by Hannah Wickstrom who scored a game high 30 points on 13-17 from the floor. Her point total tied a career high that was set earlier in the year when UCR beat Cal Lutheran. Wickstrom also tied her career high in steals with seven. The Highlanders scored 34 points off of 26 UC Merced turnovers.

Taylor Swanson set a new career high with 21 points on 7-9 shooting and 2-3 from distance. Her previous career high came at Idaho when she scored 15.

Seneca Hackley had another solid game for the Highlanders. She dropped 19 points and posted six rebounds, six assists and six steals.

UCR ends their non-conference slate on a high note and on New Year's Day they take on the Rainbow Wahine from Honolulu. That game starts at 9PM (PST).
