RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Big West announced selections to its post season teams on Tuesday with Makayla Rose, Shelley Duchemin and Hannah Wickstrom all earning all-conference distinction. 

Makayla Rose - Best Defensive Player
Rose was named The Big West Best Defensive Player. She commanded one of the best defenses in the conference, as UC Riverside finished fourth holding opponents to just 58.1 points per game. She averaged 1.9 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game, and in November, set a career high of six steals against Whittier. Rose also dropped 13 points and grabbed four rebounds against the Poets. Rose enjoyed best game of the year came late against CSUN, scoring 31 points and putting the team on her shoulders for the OT win.

Shelley Duchemin - All-Big West Second Team
The Highlanders' standout was selected to the All-Big West Second Team. Duchemin produced 17 double-digit scoring outings for UCR, including a 20-point game against Cal Poly. She grabbed a season-high of ten rebounds for UCR in its 51-42 win at UC Santa Barbara. That same night, Duchemin added a team high ten rebounds for her only double-double of the season. She started 21 of 28 games in her first year as a Highlander, averaging a little over 26-minutes per game and totaling 299 points. She finished 11^th in The Big West in scoring at 10.7 points per game.

Hannah Wickstrom - Big West All-Freshman Team
Wickstrom was selected to the Big West All-Freshman Team. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Wickstrom averaged 18 minutes per game and was second on the team in three points attempted (92) while leading the squad with 34 made threes. She scored in double figures 10 times this year and posted a new career high of 23 in UCR's 74-59 win over Utah State.

The Highlanders are back in action tomorrow afternoon, March 12, at 2:30 p.m., in the first round of the 2025 Big West Basketball Championships, presented by Credit Union 1. UCR will take on Long Beach State on ESPN+.
