RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Tonight was the third time that the Lancers and the Highlanders met this year with UCR taking the first two. Game three went to the Highlanders, 6-4.
Nolan Milliman (2-3) took the mound for UCR tonight, making his third start of the year.
Scoring got started in the top of the second for CBU, when Milliman let one get away and the Lancers pushed one across on the wild pitch.
The Highlanders got on the board in the bottom of the third. For the second straight at bat, Tyson Reis came up with the bases loaded. The first time ended with a groundout, this time he laced a single up the middle scoring Andrew Rivas and Manoah Chapman giving UCR a 2-1 lead.
Then Jacob Badawi followed with a RBI double scoring Jayden Lopez and pushing the lead to 3-1.
Scoring for both teams was quiet until the bottom of the sixth when Jacob Badawi launched a homer to left to give UCR a 4-1 lead. For Badawi it was his first homer of the year and his eighth RBI.
Then in the home half of the seventh Reis and Badawi singled with two outs giving UCR a 6-1 lead.
Matt Hudson entered the game with one out in the top of the seventh. The UCR righty was solid and ran into trouble with two outs in the top of the ninth. The Lancers pushed three runs across and made things interesting, but Hudson was able to secure the win for UCR.
