LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Highlanders hit the road to take on UCSD in a Big West Conference match up and saw their three-game winning streak snapped, 70-54.
The Tritons outscored the Highlanders in the paint 50-16 behind 22 points from Erin Condron.
Hannah Wickstrom led the Highlanders in scoring with 19 points and
Kaylani Polk added 13.
Seneca Hackley also scored in double figures with 11. The Highlanders had a difficult time defending the paint.
The Highlanders trailed by only 1 at the end of the first, 11-10 and found themselves down 33-26 at half. Every time UCR found a bit of momentum UC San Diego found ways to get it back.
A tough third quarter for the Highlanders put them too far behind to mount a comeback. They were outscored 17-9.
With the loss UCR drops to 3-2 in conference and 5-10 overall. They host Long Beach State on Thursday night at the SRC. Game time is 6PM.
