CORVALLIS, Ore. - UC Riverside traveled to Oregon State for the conference opener. The Beavers entered the contest as the No. 21 team in the nation and earned a draw, 2-2 against San Diego State earlier in the week. The Highlanders were looking to snap a three game winless streak and their first win against the Beavers, but fell 4-1.Â
Eric Martinez scored his second goal of the year in the 16' of play to draw even with Oregon State. Ryan Guerra and Brady Elliott were credited with assists. The goal came a couple of minutes after Oregon State struck on Wyatt Borso's seventh of the year.
UC Riverside's defense held strong up until the 80' when Oregon State score the first of three in the final ten minutes of the match. It started with Michael Nesci scoring his second of the year and Borso scored his eighth goal six minutes later. The final goal of the match Milo Wray in the 90' to end the match.Â
Next up UC Riverside hosts UC San Diego on Wednesday night from the UCR Soccer Stadium in Pac-12 action. Kickoff is set for 7PM. You can purchase your tickets at GoHighlanders.com/tickets.Â
