RENO, Nev. - UC Riverside closed its indoor season on March 1 and 2 at the MPSF Championships in Reno.
The Highlander men turned in a program-record third-place finish.
Kamea Hunter kicked off UCR's MPSF Championships in the 60m, qualifying for the finals after finishing second in her heat.
Camryn Alo won her flight in the women's weight throw, but it was Gabriella Colon-Gipson and Addy Hackett scoring for UCR in the event. D'Lainey Nakamoto, Diyana Hackley, and Raykiyat Olukoju all won their heats in the 200, with last year's champion Olukoju pacing the Highlanders (24.16).
Joining Alo, Hackett, and Olukoju as UCR's scorers on day one were Nyah Fields (women's long jump), Kazu Kimura (men's long jump), Addae Ma'at (men's long jump), Mateo Garcia (weight throw), and both DMR teams. Fields' 5.76m/18-10.75 clocked in at No. 5 all-time, while ZeShaun Daley put up the ninth-best indoor men's long jump in history (7.07m/23-02.50).
Garcia also scored in Monday's weight throw with a 16.82m/55-02.25.
Maxwell Jefferson kicked off day two with an all-conference performance in the 60H (8.02) while Arthur Celestine Jr. scored in the event. Tyler Kaan picked up an all-conference nod in the mile with a 4:20.43 for third place and six points. Mallik Bolton later scored in the men's 400 with a 47.94 for eighth place.
UCR did most of its damage in both the men's and women's triple jump. Kyan Thomas took home the MPSF Championship with a 15.28m/50-01.75, while Ma'at (14.86m/48-09.00) also grabbed All-MPSF honors. Daley and Andrew Robinson also scored for the Highlanders in the event. Melanie Ceballos (11.91m/39-01.00) and Santia Ali (11.82m/38-09.50) scored on the women's side.
Kimura, who was named MPSF Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week recently, earned All-MPSF in the high jump with a 2.05m/6-08.75.
UCR finished its MPSF Championships with all-conference performances in the women's (3:43.30) and men's (3:11.90) 4x400 relays, with the men's run doubling as a school record.
With the indoor season concluded, UCR will now open its outdoor campaign on Friday, March 6, at the RCC Invitational.
