FULLERTON, Calif. - UC Riverside dropped game three of its conference series with Cal State Fullerton this afternoon, 9-3.
Jaxon Byrd got the start for UC Riverside and threw two innings and surrendering two runs. He did not figure into the decision.
The Highlanders got on the board first on
Andrew Rivas' RBI single in the second inning that scored
Esteban Sepulveda.Â
The lead didn't last long, as the Titans pushed two across in the bottom of the third with runs scored on a wild pitch and a sac-fly.Â
Lucas Bonham doubled to lead things off in the fifth taking a 2-2 pitch to right field. He advanced to third on a ground out to first by Byrd.
Jarren Sanderson then grounded out to first scoring Bonham and tying the game up at two.Â
Trailing 4-2 in the top of the sixth UCR scored its final run of the ball game.
Manoah Chapman was hit by a pitch on a full count and
Ty Walton moved up over to second on a ground out. Then
Miles Scott came up and on a 1-0 pitch he singled to left scoring Chapman from second.
The Titans scored four in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Next up for UCR is a trip to San Diego State to take on the Aztecs on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6 PM.
