Evan Oliver joins the UC Riverside men’s basketball program as an assistant coach, bringing collegiate playing experience, professional competition and player development expertise to the Highlanders.
Oliver was a four-year scholarship student-athlete at California State University, Chico, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from 2020–24. Following his undergraduate career, he continued his education at California State University, San Bernardino, working toward a master’s degree in education.
Professionally, Oliver competed for the Derby Trailblazers in England beginning in September 2025. His responsibilities included on-court preparation and performance, role execution, teamwork and communication at the professional level — experience that provides valuable insight into player accountability and game preparation.
In addition to his playing career, Oliver has extensive experience in player development. He worked as a personal trainer from 2021–25, training high school athletes in basketball skill development, conditioning and overall athletic IQ. His background in multi-sport individual skill development and physical performance aligns with UC Riverside’s emphasis on growth both on and off the court.
Oliver’s strengths include communication, collaboration, problem solving and physical conditioning, making him a strong addition to the Highlanders’ coaching staff.
