Irvine, CA—The Big West announced today that UC Riverside goalkeeper Elizabeth Silas is the conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from September 21-27.

The Upland, California native recorded a pair of shutouts as the Highlanders went 2-0 on their weekend road trip blanking South Dakota, 2-0, (
box score/
recap) and North Dakota State, 1-0, (
box score/
recap). She was credited with 11 saves in the two matches, in notching her third and fourth clean sheets of the season.
It is the third weekly conference honor in the senior's UCR career, tying her with Tessa Lennala for the most in program history.
The Highlanders pulled back above the .500 mark at 6-5-0 as the result of the two wins. In Big West rankings, Silas in third in saves (41), fourth in save percentage (.804) and fifth in goals against average (0.90).
UC Riverside travels to UC Irvine this Sunday, October 4 for a 1 pm PT kick off against the Anteaters in the first conference match of the year for both clubs.
