Women's Soccer Runs Unbeaten Streak To Four Games In 0-0 Tie With San Fran
9/11/2009 10:23:56 PM | Women's Soccer
UC Riverside 0, San Francisco 0
The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team (3-2-1) stretched its unbeaten streak to four games, and goalkeeper Jessica White increased her consecutive scoreless minutes streak to 367:45, but the Highlanders couldn't dent the net Friday evening in a 0-0 double overtime tie with San Francisco (4-1-1).
UCR had its best chance at a goal early in the first when an Ashley Parks shot in the box veered off high and left of the goal. The Dons outshot the Highlanders 6-4 in the period, but White picked up three saves to keep the game scoreless.
With 16:46 remaining in the first White made a save while colliding with a San Francisco forward injuring herself on the play. She was replaced by Emily Hart, who picked up her first action as a collegian standing between the pipes for the remainder of the half.
White was back in goal to start the second half, and the teams combined for 11 shots in the period. Neither team could find the goal, however, and after a scoreless 90 minutes plus two 10-minute overtimes, they settled for a 0-0 tie.
The Highlanders are home again this Sunday, September 13, as part of a men's and women's soccer double header. The men kick-off at 2:30 pm against San Jose State while the women host San Diego State at 6:00 p.m.
