Women's Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak To Five With 1-1 Tie Vs. SDSU

The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team extended its unbeaten streak to five games Sunday evening with a 1-1 tie vs. San Diego State. The last time that Highlanders goalkeeper Jessica White (pictured) allowed a goal prior to Sunday's match was in a 2-1 loss to Oregon State on August 28—a span of 454:55 minutes.

Ciara Hilpert put the Highlanders on the board with 29:32 gone in the first after taking a cross from Kayla Troesh. Although the Aztecs outshot UCR 21-11 on the night, it looked like that goal might hold up. But with 2:50 left in the game, Rachel McGlinchy emerged from a scrum around the Highlanders goal and deposited the ball in the back of the net to tie the match.

The teams played two scoreless overtime periods and were forced to settle for the tie.

The Highlanders host a four-team tournament this weekend at the UCR Soccer Stadium as Utah Valley, Bowling Green and UC Irvine come to town. On Friday, September 18 Utah Valley and UC Irvine face off against one another at 4 p.m. while the Highlanders take on Bowling Green at 6 p.m. On Sunday September 20, UC Irvine takes on Bowling Green at 10 a.m. and UCR hosts Utah Valley at 1 p.m.
