
Seattle Bests UC Riverside Volleyball 3-0

Malibu, CA - The UC Riverside volleyball team continued play at the Pepperdine Asics Classic on Saturday afternoon with a match against Seattle, but fell in straight sets 25-19, 25-17, and 25-22. The Highlanders (1-7) conclude the tournament with a 2:30 pm match against No. 19 ranked Pepperdine on Sunday.
The Redhawks (2-7) led from the get-go in set one and held the Highlanders at bay as UCR never got closer than three down the stretch.
Tied at 16 apiece In the second set, Seattle went on a 9-1 run to close out the frame 25-17 and take a two to nothing lead.
In the third set, the Highlanders led early on opening up a three point margin, 10-7 off a Seattle error, and again at 15-12 off a block assist by Bianca Endersby (pictured) and Shelby LeDuff. UCR was looking to extend the contest into the next set but the Redhawks had other plans as they took the lead for good at 21-20 and eventually earned the 25-22 victory.
Dominique Cowling posted a game-high 18 kills and led UCR with a team-high 16 digs while hitting .234. Endersby added a game-high 6 blocks while Shannon Moyneur tallied five, and Brittney Murrey and Katherine Castillo recorded 15 and 12 assists respectively.
