Men's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision To Fla Gulf Coast at UNLV Tourney

Florida Gulf Coast 3, UC Riverside 0
The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team, playing its first match of the UNLV Soccer Tournament Friday afternoon, dropped a 3-0 decision to Florida Gulf Coast. The Highlanders outshot the Eagles 19-12 in the match, led by Cesar Diaz's (pictured) seven attempts, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Florida Gulf Coast's Westin Vallentine put the Eagles on the board with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first on an unassisted goal from the top right corner.
It remained 1-0 until Jelani Smith's poked home his first goal of the season with under 18 minutes to play. With the Highlanders pressing on offense, the Eagles netted a third goal off of the foot of Donatto Punyed with 8:24 left in the match for the final 3-0 margin of victory.
Next up for the Highlanders is a Sunday morning match vs. Illinois-Chicago at 10:30 am.
