UC Riverside vs. La Sierra Game Notes (Coming After The New Year)
Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team rings in the New Year with a non-conference home game against the La Sierra Golden Eagles. Tip at the Student Recreation Center is slated for 7 pm PT, and those fans who are unable to attend the game may listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call from courtside to gohighlanders.com via Stretch Internet's Game Central.
The Highlanders opened up Big West play on December 28 with an impressive 73-68 road win over UC Irvine. The Anteaters were coming off of a one-point loss to UCLA, but Javon Borum's 30-point effort, including 23 in the second half, helped UCR to the win.
The Golden Eagles are 2-8 on the season with a game to play on New Year's Eve at San Diego Christian College before making their way to the SRC. Both of La Sierra's wins on the season have come on the road.
Javon Borum has taken over the Highlanders individual scoring lead and is now averaging 14.1 points per game. He has reached double figures in nine consecutive games and is averaging 17.2 points over that stretch on 49.5 shooting from the field (52-105) and 43.8 from three-point range (21-48).
UC Riverside enters Tuesday's meeting with La Sierra boasting a 14-game home unbeaten streak against non-conference opponents which dates back to the 2007-08 season. This is the first-ever meeting between the teams.
