The UC Riverside Baseball Team puts its 4-0 record on the line on Tuesday, February 23 at San Diego State in the Highlanders first road game of the year. First pitch is slated for 6 pm PT, and fans who are unable to make the trip can listen to Ghizal Hasan's call of the game live on gohighlanders.com.
UCR went undefeated in its season opening three-game series against BYU and upended Bethune-Cookman yesterday afternoon at the Riverside Sports Complex, 6-1.
Eddie Orozco gets the call on the mound for the Highlanders in his first start of the year. Last season, Orozco made just one appearance for UCR striking out one batter and giving up one earned run in an inning of relief work.
Eight of the 10 members of the team with at least two starts to their credit are hitting .300 or above so far, as the team line is a robust .341/.410/.522 (avg/obp/slg). The members of UCR's catching combo, Robert Brantly and Dan Pellegrino, are each slugging .857 on the season, while Justin Shults's .538 on base percentage is tops on the team.
