UC Riverside vs. San Diego State Game Notes
The UC Riverside Baseball Team hosts San Diego State on Tuesday, March 2, at the Riverside Sports Complex before heading to Surprise, Arizona over the weekend for the Coca-Cola Classic hosted by Arizona State. First pitch Tuesday is slated for 6 pm PT, and fans who are unable to make the trip can listen to Ghizal Hasan's call of the game live on gohighlanders.com.
The Highlanders will be looking for a bit of revenge Tuesday as the Aztecs beat UC Riverside 14-1 last week at San Diego State. Trevor Frank takes his 1-0 record and 0.00 earned run average to the mound for UCR. The freshman threw six scoreless innings aginat Bethune-Cookman on February 22 allowing just five hits and striking out two in picking up the first win of his collegiate career.
In the last meeting with San Diego State, UCR used five different pitchers, none of whom was able to master the Aztecs bats. Offensively, catcher Robert Brantly was the only member of the Highlanders who had any success collecting three of UC Riverside's five hits on the night.
After the San Diego State game it is off to Surprise, Arizona for the Coca-Cola Classic where the Highlanders will face tenth-ranked Oregon State (5-2) on Thursday, March 4; Florida International (6-0) on Friday, March 5; second-ranked Arizona State (7-0) on Saturday, March 6; and Utah Valley (4-3) on Sunday, March 7.
