Baseball Travels To Moraga, CA For Four-Game Set With Saint Mary's

UC Riverside at Saint Mary's Game Notes
Moraga, CA—The UC Riverside Baseball Team (9-7) heads north to Moraga, California this weekend for a four-game series with the Saint Mary's Gaels (6-9-1). First pitch for Friday's game is slated for 3 pm PT, with Saturday's double header starting at 11 am and Sunday's series-finale beginning at 1 pm.
Matt Andriese (2-1, 6.31)will get the start for the Highlanders on Friday. The sophomore right-hander is coming off his best start of the season last Friday in an 8-5 win over San Francisco when he allowed just six hits and two earned runs in eight innings.
Saint Mary's enters the series having just snapped a three-game losing streak with a 5-4 home win over Sacramento State. The Gaels' leading hitter is sophomore first baseman Troy Channing who boasts a .434 on base percentage and a .677 slugging percentage. His seven home runs in 16 games rank him in the top twenty in the nation.
The Highlanders and Gaels squared off against one another on just two other occasions. The first was a 5-1 Saint Mary's win on April 2, 1981. Most recently the Highlanders picked up a 10-2 win on March 9, 2003.
