Big West Conference Baseball Play Continues This Weekend At Pacific

UC Riverside at Pacific Game Notes
Riverside—The UC Riverside Baseball Team (14-9, 2-1) has been off for the past six days following the opening weekend of conference play. The Highlanders took two of three at home from Cal Poly, and honored one of their legendary coaches and administrators, Don Edwards, prior to game three of the series. Fans in attendance that day also saw Brian McConkey (pictured) tie and NCAA record legging out three triples on the afternoon.
Next up for the Highlanders is a three-game road series at Pacific. Fans who are unable to make the trip northward can follow Friday's game via GameTracker or listen to the Tigers call of the game via the electric interweb.
The Tigers dropped two of three at Long Beach State to start Big West play, and have lost three straight heading into the UCR series. They are 17-10 overall with two wins over USC and a 9-4 victory over then No. 19 Stanford.
Matt Andriese (3-2, 5.14) gets the Friday start for UC Riverside, while Matt Larkins (3-2, 5.18) is slated to start Saturday and Dustin Emmons (4-1, 2.48) gets the nod on Sunday afternoon. Andriese will square off against Marcus Pointer who is a perfect 6-0 on the year with a 3.45 earned run average. Larkins task is nearly as daunting as he faces David Rowse who enters the weekend with a 5-0 record and a 4.31 ERA. Emmons counterpart on the mound Sunday will be either Jake Hummel (3-2, 3.89) or Hunter Carnevale (0-3, 4.50).
