Men's Soccer Conference Home Opener Set For Saturday vs. Cal Poly

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team began Big West play this week dropping a 3-0 decision at 9th-ranked UC Irvine on Wednesday. Next up is the home conference opener on Saturday, October 2 against Cal Poly. Time of the match is 7 pm PT, and fans who are unable to attend the match may follow along on their computers and mobile devices via LiveStats.
The Highlanders are 2-3-1 over their past six matches with all three losses coming to Top-25 teams in UCLA, CSU Bakersfield and UC Irvine.
Cal Poly and UC Riverside have four common opponents this year in UCLA, CSU Bakersfield, Air Force and Loyola Marymount. The Highlanders beat Air Force 1-0, tied LMU 1-1, lost a 2-1 decision to the Bruins in overtime, and fell 3-0 to the Roadrunners. The Mustangs lost 2-1 to the Falcons in OT, dropped a 4-1 decision to the Lions, finished in a scoreless tie with UCLA and upended CSUB 2-1.
The Highlanders and Mustangs have faced off against one another on 18 occasions since UC Riverside made the transition to Division I. Cal Poly has won each of the last four matches between the clubs including the most recent 3-0 result on October 28, 2009 (Box Score / Recap).
