Baseball Ends Non-Conference Schedule With Tuesday Trip To UNLV

Las Vegas, NV—The UC Riverside Baseball Team's non-conference schedule comes to an end this Tuesday, May 17, as the Highlanders travel to UNLV for a 6 pm PT meeting with the Rebels. Fans who are unable to make the trip may follow the action on their computers and mobile devices via GameTracker.
UCR (25-20) has seven games total remaining on their 2011 schedule as they look for their third consecutive 30+ win season. Trevor Hairgrove still leads the squad with a .342 batting average and is second in on base percentage (.411) and slugging percentage (.440). Ryan Goetz (.326), David Andriese (.310) and Justin Shults (.302) also enter the week with batting averages over the .300 mark.
Dustin Emmons (5-3, 5.48) makes his eighth start of the season for the Highlanders in search of his team-high sixth win of the year.
UNLV enters Tuesday night's game with a 32-20 record which includes a 6-5 loss to the Highlanders back on April 12. In that contest, UC Riverside battled back from a 5-1 deficit with a five-run fifth inning to secure the victory (video highlights).
Brady Zuniga (1-3, 8.22) gets the start for the Rebels in his first appearance since that April 12 games. UCR fans will remember Zuniga as the UNLV pitcher who was hit by a Andriese line drive during the fifth inning.
As a team, the Rebels offense has a slash line of .308/.381/.433. Eight UNLV regulars are hitting btter than .300 on the season led by Trent Cook (.385/.438/.490), Rance Roundy (.345/.383/.577) and Brandon Bayardi (.343/.449/.636).
After Tuesday's game, UCR has just two conference series remaining on its 2011 schedule—a three-game home series this weekend vs. UC Irvine, and a three-game road series the following weekend at UC Davis.
