Malibu—The UC Riverside women’s basketball team embarks on its first road game of the 2012-13 season traveling to Pepperdine on Monday, November 12 for a 7 pm PT tip in Malibu.
The Highlanders dropped their season opener to Gonzaga on Friday evening, 60-53, giving up 16 more points in the second half as the Zags came from behind to earn the win (recap/box score/video). Tre’Shonti Nottingham led the squad with 20 points while freshman Brittany Crain added 14 points and eight rebounds.
Pepperdine defeated fellow Big West Conference foe UC Davis in its season opener, 83-68, on Friday, turning a two-point first half lead into a 15-point victory. Four players scored in double-figures for the Waves as the team shot 51 percent for the game.
Pepperdine owns the all-time series record against UC Riverside, 11-3, including winning the most recent contest, 65-61, back on December 28, 2010.
