Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team remains at home this weekend as the Highlanders host Whitman College on Saturday, November 17 beginning at 1 pm PT.
The Highlanders are coming off of one of the best defensive performances in program history after limiting Fresno State to just 39 points on Wednesday evening. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were every bit as stingy, sending UC Riverside to a 39-30 loss (box score/recap).
Junior transfer Chris Patton paced the Highlanders with game highs in scoring (12) and rebounding (9). He now leads UCR in rebounding on the season averaging 7.3 boards per game.
Whitman College, a Division III member of the Northwest Conference, opened its 2012-13 season by dropping a 104-81 decision to nationally-ranked St. Thomas on Thursday. Ben Eisenhardt led Whitman with 22 points on 11 of 15 shooting from the field while Matt Mounier added 14 and Jackson Clough chipped in with 13. Defensively, the Missionaries struggled allowing St. Thomas to connect on 65.1 percent of their field goals and 53.8 percent from three-point range.
The Highlanders and Missionaries have never faced off against one another in the regular season.
