Baseball Begins Final Week Of Season With Road Games At LMU, USC

Los Angeles, CA—The UC Riverside Baseball Team (21-28, 9-12) is on a roll heading into the final week of the regular season after taking two of three over the weekend from eighth-ranked Cal State Fullerton. The Highlanders travel to LMU (24-26) on Tuesday for a 3 pm PT first pitch and USC (23-27) on Wednesday for a 6 pm start.
UCR has won six of its last eight games including five of its last seven conference games to move into seventh place in the Big West, one game back of Cal State Northridge (23-26, 10-11) and UC Davis (24-29, 10-11) who are tied for fifth. The Highlanders finish out conference play this weekend hosting Cal Poly (33-20, 13-8) for a three game series at the Riverside Sports Complex.
UC Riverside got three outstanding pitching performances over the weekend, as Eddie Orozco, Trevor Frank and Dylan Stuart combined to throw 24.1 innings, allow just 22 hits and four earned runs against the number one team in the conference. WHOM and WHOM are slated to start for the Highlanders this week on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Vince Gonzalez had his hitting streak snapped at 19 on Sunday coming up one game short of tying Ryan Harvey for the UC RIverside Division I-era record. He continues to pace the Highlanders with a .354 batting average and a .432 slugging percentage.
Loyola Marymount has dropped eight of its last 11 games including an 8-5 decision to the Highlanders back on May 9. Colton Plaia (.317) and Zac Fujimoto (.314) are the lone LIons with batting averages north of .300 on the season. Colton also leads the team with a .439 slugging percentage, while Matt Lowenstein's .434 on base percentage paces the squad.
XXXXXXXXXX ( ) is slated to start Tuesday's game for LMU in what will likely be a "staff day" for the team. The Lions bring a 4.38 earned run average into the week.
After opening the season with a 19-10 record, USC has dropped 17 of its last 21 games. Matt Foat (.344) and Adam Landecker (.329) are the only members of the team hitting over .300 with Foat also pacing the sqyad with a .449 on base percentage and a .467 slugging percentage.
BRANDON GARCIA (3-5, 4.50) gets the start for the Trojans who boast a team ERA of 3.38
