Box Score - Pacific 3, UC Riverside 0
Stockton, CA - The UC Riverside Volleyball Team dropped a 3-0 decision to Pacific Friday evening, 25-17, 25-16, and 25-17, in game one of the Bankers Classic at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
Megan Birch paced the Tigers' (5-4) offense with 13 kills while Kat Schulz added 11. Annishia McKoy and Cristina Maietta led the Highlanders (0-7) with six kills apiece.
After Pacific used a 5-0 rally in the first set to stave off the Highlanders, it was UC Riverside who led early in set two at 6-2, and again midway through, at 15-12.
That forced a Tigers timeout, but unfortunately for the blue and gold, Pacific came out of the break scoring nine straight points to take a 21-15 lead. An attack error by UOP stopped the rally, but UC Riverside was held scoreless the rest of the way as the Tigers outscored UCR 13-1 to close out the frame.
In the third set, Pacific again rallied, turning a 5-5 tie into an 11-5 advantage. The Highlanders never got closer than five the rest of the way as the Tigers cruised to the three-set win.
UC Riverside continues play at the Bankers Classic with a pair of games on Saturday facing off against San Jose State at 10 am PT and Winthrop at 5 pm.
