Women's Basketball Hosts San Diego State Tuesday Before Breaking For The Holidays

Riverside—Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team remains at home this week, hosting San Diego State on Tuesday, December 23 at 2 pm PT before taking a five-day break for the holidays.
The Highlanders lost a tough 74-71 decision to Washington on Saturday, leading by as many as 17 points in the second half (box score/recap). But the Huskies used a 12-0 run to climb back into the game, and took their lone lead of the period with 10 seconds to go.
Anneslie Ito led five Highlanders in double digit scoring with a season-high 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Statistically, the game swung at the free throw line where Washington made 19 of 24 while UC Riverside connected on four of 10.
Brittany Crain ranks first in the Big West in scoring and seventh in the nation at 24.3 points per game. The Highlanders lead the conference in scoring average (72.7) and three-point field goal percentage (.383), while ranking second in field goal percentage (.419), third in free throw percentage (.695) and first in fewest turnovers per game (12.9)
San Diego State is 3-7 entering the week having dropped three in a row including a 65-54 loss to CSUN and a 69-48 defeat at the hands of Washington. Their most recent victory came in a 64-58 decision over UC Santa Barbara.
The Aztecs are averaging just 57.0 points per game, and has no active players averaging in double digits. SDSU is making just 39.1 percent of its field goal attempts and 26.5 percent from three-point range. The Aztecs are also committing 22.4 turnovers per game.
The Highlanders are 5-8 all-time against San Diego State, with the Aztecs picking up wins in each of the last three meetings (view results). Last season, SDSU eked out a 58-57 home victory at home (box score/recap)
