Softball Gets Shutout By Idaho State, 9-0

Riverside - The UC Riverside Softball Team dropped a 9-0 decision to Idaho State in five innings on Saturday afternoon in the third game of the Highlander Classic. Box Score.
UCR dug a hole in the first as the Bengals sent eight batters to the plate scoring four runs. A lead-off triple and two walks loaded the bases, and Hailey Breakwell took advantage doubling to right field and driving in two. With two outs, Maddy Hickman singled to left field, clearing the bases as the other runners came home.
In the second, Idaho State tacked on another three runs as Vicky Galasso homered with two runners on base, making it 7-0. In the third, ISU scored two more as the lead increased to 9-0.
Meanwhile, the Highlanders bats were silenced garnering just four hits all day. Due to the eight-run mercy rule, the game ended after five innings with ISU up 9-0.
Next up for UC Riverside is the conclusion of the Highlander Classic, facing off against Utah State and San Diego on Sunday, March 9 beginning at 11:30 am PT at Amy S. Harrison Field.
