Women's Basketball Heads To Bakersfield For Wednesday Night Match-up

Bakersfield—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team travels north to take on CSU Bakersfield Wednesday, December 14 at 7 pm PT.
The mid-week match-up with the Roadrunners is the first of six straight road contests for the Highlanders this month.
UC Riverside is coming off a, 58-54, home victory over Seattle on Saturday, when Simone DeCoud scored a season-high 18 points, and knocked a career-high tying five three-pointers (box score / recap).
The Highlanders rank 33rd in the country with a 1.20 assist to turnover ratio, and their 17.7 assists per game is 30th nationally.
Réjane Vérin, who had 10 points and nine boards in the win, ranks third in the Big West at 16.2 points a game, fourth in rebounding with 7.5 a night, and leads the league with 4.5 assists per contest.
DeCoud averages 12.0 points, pulls down 6.2 rebounds, and nabs nearly two steals per game (1.83).
CSU Bakersfield opened the season with a, 58-51, home victory over Big West foe Hawai'i. Following the season-opening win, the Runners dropped six straight decisions.
Last week they ended the streak with a, 78-51, win against Stanislaus State, and are now winners of two straight after knocking off Fresno Pacific, 84-61.Â
Bakersfield has three players averaging double figures led by junior guard Aja Williams with 14 points a contest.
Redshirt senior Erika Williams chips in 11.3 points, and center Brittany Sims is averaging 10.4 points and collects 7.0 caroms a game.Â
Over 44 percent of CSU Bakersfield's shots this season are from three-point range (232 of 525), and the Runners have 25 more turnovers than assists on the year. They also force the opposition into 16.2 turnovers per game. They have also managed to force their opponents into 16.2 turnovers a game. Â

In last year's battle with the Runners at the SRC Arena, the Highlanders got 29 points from Brittany Crain and 18 from Vérin to lead three players in double figures in the, 81-61, victory (box score / recap).
