Denver, CO—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team continues its trek through Colorado Territory this Thursday, December 22 with a 6 pm PT tip against the Denver Pioneers.

The Highlanders dropped a 77-61 decision at Northern Colorado Tuesday evening (box score/recap), running their current losing streak to five games, and their road losing streak to eight in a row dating back to last season. Gentrey Thomas led UC Riverside with 13 points on six-of-13 shooting, but the rest of the team made just 33.9 percent of their shots from the field.

UCR has made less than 40 percent of its shots from the floor in all seven of its losses this season, and scored 65 or more points in a game just twice.

Chance Murray and Secean Johnson lead the Highlanders in scoring at 11.1 and 11.0 points per game respectively. Alex Larsson continues to lead the team in rebounding at 5.3 boards per game, and Murray (2.00) and Dikymbe Martin (1.88) are among the conference leaders in steals per game.

Over their last five games, UC Riverside opponents are making 51.7 percent of their field goal attempts.

Denver is now 7-5 on the season after the team's 74-52 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday evening. That was the fourth win in a row for the Pioneers who rank 45th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (39.4), while making 46.7 percent of their shots from the field overall. However, Denver has turned the ball over 42 more times than their opponents on the season, and scored 40 fewer points from the charity stripe.

Joe Rosga is averaging 15.0 points per game, making 45.2 percent of his field goal attempts, 44.6 percent from long distance, and 78.6 percent from the free throw line. Amigo Daniel and C.J. Bobbitt are also averaging double figures in scoring for the Pioneers at 14.4 and 10.3 points per game respectively.

The Highlanders are 2-1 all-time against Denver, and won the most recent meeting between the clubs, 63-54, on December 22, 2015 in Riverside (box score/recap).
