Los Angeles CA—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team was looking to go 2-0 to start the season for just the second time in the program's Division I history, but the LMU Lions forced the Highlanders into committing 19 turnovers en route to a 76-62 victory.
KEY RUN
A Menno Dijkstra jumper sliced the LMU lead to three, 41-38, with 14:41 to go in the second half, but the Lions scored 17 of the next 24 points to make it a 58-45 ballgame. The Highlanders were unable to get the lead below double figures the rest of the way.
GAME NOTES
Alex Larsson recorded his second straight double-digit scoring effort with 14 points.
Brandon Rosser posted his second straight double-digit scoring performance with 15 points, and just missed out on a double-double with eight rebounds.
Dikymbe Martin led UC Riverside in scoring with a season-high 20 points. That marked the second time in his UC Riverside career that Martin has scored 20 or more points in a game.
The Highlanders committed 19 turnovers on the night which is their most miscues since February 16, 2017 when they committed 21 turnovers vs. Cal State Fullerton.
Due in large part to those turnovers, the Lions took 59 shots on the night compared to just 47 for the Highlanders.
Of the Lions 59 field goal attempts on the night, 26 came from three-point range.
