Men's Basketball Can't Complete Comeback As Portland State Wins 94-82

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team cut the Portland State to six with just over two minutes remaining, but couldn't complete the comeback as the visiting Vikings picked up a 94-81 Homecoming win over the Highlanders.

KEY RUN
A DJ Sylvester dunk with 5:24 to go in the first cut the Vikings' advantage to one, 28-27, but Portland State drained three consecutive three-pointers to push their advantage to 10. UC Riverside was unable to get closer than six the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES
Dikymbe Martin (15), Brandon Rosser (14) and Alex Larsson (13) each scored in double figures for the third straight game.

Freshman Ajani Kennedy scored the first points of his UC Riverside career, and finished with 18 to lead the Highlanders.

The Highlanders' 23 turnovers were their most since the 2014-15 team committed 24 miscues in an overtime loss at Northern Illinois on January 2, 2014.

Portland State took 75 shots compared to 60 for the Highlanders thanks in large part to a 23-9 advantage on the offensive glass. UC Riverside made up some of the difference at the free throw line by going 24 for 35 compared to 16 for 29 for the Vikings.

The Highlanders 24 made free throws are their most since the connected on 25 against Montana on December 17, 2016. Their 35 attempts are their most since taking 39 vs. CSUN on Marc 1, 2014.

The 94 points allowed by the Highlanders are the most they have give up in a regulation game since November 19, 2016 when they gave up 96 at UCLA.
