Riverside, CA–The UCR softball team will host a single game against the LMU Lions on Saturday, March 4th at 12 pm. Monday, the Highlanders entertain Detroit Mercy for a double-header with game one's first slated for noon as well.
The Highlanders are coming off a successful weekend hosting the Amy S. Harrison Classic, which saw the Highlanders win four out of five games, and outscore their opponents 45 to 10 in those victories.
Jenna Curtan was named Big West Player of the Week after hitting .727, driving in six runs, scoring five times, drawing five walks, and stealing two bases last week (
story). Haley Harris tied the program's DI record with six RBIs in a win over Siena (
story).
Tayler Misfeldt was dominant in the circle throwing a complete game shut out while allowing only 5 hits in a 13-0 victory over the Saints. In another contest against the Siena, freshman pitcher Haley Marschall coasted through a shortened 5 inning game, scattering 5 hits on her way to picking up her first victory of the season 9-1.
The LMU lions will travel to Riverside coming in with a 4-9 record, having lost six of their last seven contests, including three straight to visiting Michigan State. Catcher Irma Sanchez currently leads the LMU Lions with a .321/.441/.500 slash line including seven runs scored and four RBIs.
Pitcher Hannah Bandimere currently leads the Lions in wins (3), ERA (3.22), and strikeouts (23) having gone the distance in 3 of her 7 starts.
Detroit Mercy is 3-7 on the year, and will stop off in San Diego for five games this weekend before visiting the Highlanders Monday.
The Titans' offensive charge is led by Savvy Ferstle, who has a team-high's of two homeruns, five runs, seven RBIs, and 17 total bases. Jordan Manno tops the squad with 11 hits, and six runs scored.
Liz Murphy is the ace of the Detroit Mercy staff at 3-3 this season sporting a 1.98 ERA, and has pitched 42.1 of the team's 65.2 innings of play in 2017.
