IRVINE, Calif. – UC Riverside saved its best for last at the 2018 Big West Championships in Irvine, shooting a 297 in Round 3 to move up one spot and finish sixth overall.
Senior Hannah Facchini was steady throughout, carding a 10-over par 223 (74-73-76) as she led the Highlanders for the third straight tournament to end the season. Facchini ended Tuesday in a three-way tie for eighth overall, earning her third top-ten finish of the year.
Finishing behind Facchini was junior Jakeishya Le, who shot a 71 on the final day of competition to move up nine spots and tie for 17th overall. Over the course of the three-day tournament at the Strawberry Farms Golf Course, she shot a 14-over 227. Her 71 in Round 3 was two shots better than any other round for the Highlanders.
Le was also named All-Big West Honorable Mention, making it three consecutive years that she has earned postseason recognition.
Junior Hana Furuichi came in third on her team, posting a score of 19-over 232. Her 74 in Round 3 was tied for the third-best round for UCR during the championships.
Rounding out the Highlanders' lineup were sophomore Hailey White and senior Julia Sander. White finished in 33rd at 25-over 238, while Sander was tied for 34th at 26-over 239.
UC Riverside was a +8 on Par 5s, averaging 5.13 strokes, good for third-best among the eight team field. Le led the conference with a -3 on the Par 5s, while Facchini had more pars (39) than any other golfer.
