SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Mitzi Duarte delivered one of the top performances of the tournament to lead UC Riverside to a ninth-place finish at the Causeway Invitational.
Duarte carded rounds of 72, 69 and 72 to finish at 3-under-par 213, tying for second individually in a competitive field. Her second-round 69 marked one of the lowest rounds of the event and helped vault her into contention heading into the final day.
As a team, the Highlanders finished at 39-over-par, improving their score each round with totals of 18-over, 12-over and 9-over to close the tournament on an upward trajectory.
Maleyna Gregorio added a strong showing as an individual, tying for 28th at 224 after steady rounds of 76, 75 and 73. Janna Andaya finished tied for 37th at 226, highlighted by a closing 72. Sophia Soto posted a 229, while Ivy Kim finished at 235.
Colorado claimed the team title at even par, followed by UC Davis and Sacramento State.
The Highlanders head to Fresno to compete in the two round Fresno State Classic beginning Monday, March 2nd.
