Continuity Being Built for Women’s Golf in Colorado

RESULTS

VAIL, Colo. – The UC Riverside Women's Golf team traveled to Colorado to start their season in the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The Highlanders are still working on integrating a lot of newcomers into the mix to build success for later in the season. The team finished 18th out of 18 in the tournament.

There were some highlights for the Highlanders as freshman Jennifer Deng led the team as she shot +6 (222) which was tied for 34th. She finished the tournament strong as she shot -3 (69) on the final day of the tournament. Her 3-under score for the day was the sixth best score of the day. Although the team was out of contention, Deng showed her true colors of continuing to fight until the end.

Sophomore Kayla Kwong also showed her grit in the 3rd round as she shot 1-under par (71) for the day. Other highlights for Riverside included juniors Nao Bando and Ping Huang finishing the tournament with the second most eagles with one.

The team's 3rd round score of 294 was good for 12th place on the day.

The Highlanders showed their competitive spirit more accurately in the 3rd round of the tournament and will look to continue to build off that in their next tournament. They will be playing much closer to home as they will be competing in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California on September 28-29.
