IRVINE, Calif. – UC Riverside finished the second and final day of the inaugural Vince O'Boyle Classic on Saturday at Anteater Stadium.
The date featured numerous lifetime and season bests in addition to multiple Big West qualifying marks across multiple events.
"We were better today at executing the technique of our events and races," Highlanders head coach Nate Browne said. "With a slew of lifetime bests and more qualifying marks, we are ready for the stretch run of this outdoor season."
The 1500m was good to the Highlanders on Saturday, with wins on both the men's and women's side. Three Highlanders placed in the top four of the women's 1500m, led by Linda Perez's 4:28.82 for the win. Collette Lowengrub (2nd/4:31.88) and Carolinh Calvert (4th/4:37.20) rounded out UCR's top four representation.
Perez's mark took over the No. 10 fastest time in school history. Sean Caster won the event on the men's side with a lifetime best and Big West qualifier mark of 3:53.49.
Chudney McGehee, Delaney Harris, Aleeza Roy and Kenady Jackson ran a season-best 47.87 in the 4x100, good for fourth in the event. McGehee and George Cervanka set season bests in the 100m with times of 12.46 and 10.92, respectively.
In the 800m, Sammie Velasquez set another lifetime best with a Big West qualifying mark of 2:15.57. Mateo Joseph placed third on the men's side with a 1:52.89.
Jackson (24.90) and Harris (25.36) set season bests in the 200m, while Liam Carr ran a lifetime-best 22.20 in the event with Cervanka also clocking in at 22.40. Cameron Lewis (6.83m long jump) and Michelle Algiers (11.28 triple jump) also joined the season best club on the day.
The women's 4x400 tandem of Delaney Harris and freshmen Saniyah Starks, Sierra Sutton and Jordan Cornet rounded out the day with a season-best 3:56.64 to take fourth.
UCR returns to competition on April 8 with the two-day Triton Invite as hosted by UC San Diego, the Highlanders' first of five meets in three weeks.
