FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Collette Lowengrub (women's 10k), Linda Perez (women's 10k) and JT Ober III (men's javelin throw) will represent UC Riverside at next week's NCAA West Prelims May 25 through the 28 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the University of Arkansas's John McDonnel Field. 

This is the first year since 2018 and fourth since 2016 that UC Riverside has had both men and women compete in the NCAA West Preliminaries. 

Ober's ticket to Fayetteville was pre-eminently punched with a program-record 64.98m at the Chris Rinne Twilight. The junior is appearing in the second West Prelim of his Highlander career after making it as a freshman in 2019 in Sacramento. Ober also competed in the javelin throw later that summer at the USATF U20 Championships.

Perez and Lowengrub are making UCR's first West Prelim showing in the women's 10k in program history. Both of their qualifying times came in the Mt. SAC Relays on April 13. Perez won the Big West 10k with a 35:23.31 last weekend in Davis and earned All-Big West honors, while Lowengrub placed seventh in Davis with a 36:19.62 in the 10k.

Qualifying individuals and relays advance to the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, held on June 8-11 at Hayward Field. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary Rounds sites will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene.
